It is Finished!

One of Jesus’ last words from the cross, “It is finished” (John 19:30) is an important utterance. After this utterance, he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. It was not to say that his life was over, as he would be resurrected on the third day after his crucifixion. However, it was an utterance to his father in Heaven to say that the purpose that he came to earth to accomplish was finished.

The Greek word translated for “It is finished” is tetelestai, meaning paid in full. Jesus paid the ultimate price for our sins. Therefore, because it is finished, this life on earth is not our final hope. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

Happy Easter!

Rejoice At His Birth

Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel, which means God with us (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23). And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth (Luke 1:14). And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son (1 John 5:11).

What is sin?

Sin is a transgression of the law of God. It is a vitiated state of human nature in which the self is estranged from God (Merriam-Webster).

We were all born as sinners and fall short of the glory of God (Ps. 51:5; Rom. 8:23). However, God loved us so much that he sent his only son to die for our sins; so that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:8-9). Do not let sins keep you away from God. Let God keep you away from sins. Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness (1 John 3:4).

Sins destroy your relationship with God and hinder your prayers from entering the throne room of God. If you cherish iniquity in your heart, the Lord will not listen (Ps. 66:18). This is because God is holy, and you also need to be holy (1 Pet. 1:16). The devil will stop at nothing to keep you in the bondage of sin, so that you do not have a relationship with God. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7).

“Why Am I Here?”

Have you ever ask yourself, “Why am I here?”

I guess if you are seeking to find out why you are here, you have been thinking about your God-given purpose(s) here on this earth. Our days on earth are numbered (Psalm 90:12). No one knows what their number is, or when it will be called. Your number is referring to the age that you will expire from this earth. Some people will live a longer life, while some people will live a shorter life on this earth. However, because life is uncertain, you will need to fulfill the purpose that God puts you on earth to fulfill, before your number is called.

Jesus came that you might have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10). Having done this, He has a purpose for you to fulfill, and that is to walk in your Kingdom assignment(s). However, many people today have not identify their Kingdom assignment(s). They are just living their day-to-day life trying to get all that they desire from this life. Although this may be so, when you seek your Kingdom assignment(s) first, whatever you desire in this life, God will give it to you (Matthew 6:33).

You have got to strike a balance on this earth. You have to take care of your day-to-day affairs, realize your dreams, but at the same time, maintain a spiritual relationship with God. At the end of it all, when you see Jesus, what report will you give to Him? What are you going to tell Him that you have done for Him while you were here? Will you hear, “Well done, you good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:21)?

Why worry about tomorrow? If you trust the Lord to take care of your needs, while you take care of His business, you do not have to worry about what the future holds. “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body, what you shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they” (Matthew 6:25-26)?

Life is short, by the time you look around, you are not the young vibrant person you used to be, and before you know it, life is over! Moreover, tomorrow is not promised to anyone. With that being said, you have got to live life to the fullest, but do not forget that at the end of if it all, you have a report to give to the Lord. Have you fulfilled your Kingdom assignment(s) while you were here on this earth?

If you are walking in your Kingdom assignment (s), you will still need to find out if there are other assignments that God wants you to reposition to. Also, if you have not started walking in your Kingdom assignment(s), you will need to start asking God what He wants you to do for His Kingdom.

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he has done, whether it be good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10).

“Only one life, ’twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last” (C.T. Studd) .

In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” There is no other way.

Yet many people think that they can be saved through other ways. Religion is not the way; your pastor is not the way; baptism is not the way; church membership is not the way; doing good things is not the way. There is only one way to be saved: Jesus.

As a well-known song proclaims: There is only “one name under heaven whereby we must be saved” — Jesus!

Salvation comes down to this: Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him (John 3:36).

Similarly, 1 John 5:12 says, He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. It is clear that Jesus is the only way.
