The notion of falling out of love is so common among people these days. There are times when a married couple is separated or has gotten a divorce, and their frequent excuse is that they have fallen out of love. The idea of love often gets played out, as people use the word, “love” very loosely. However, love is unconditional. It is not merely an expression of words, but of actions.

In this life, as soon as some people are facing some form of trials and tribulations, they want to give up on God. It is very difficult to face severe storms in life, but God will never give up on you. Therefore, he would expect the same in return. The scripture asks, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? (Romans 8:35, ESV).”

Run to God when you are facing tough times, do not run away from him. He will carry you through the storm when no one else will. God’s love for you is unconditional. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13, ESV). As the world celebrates Valentine’s Day, it is a good time to think of all the loved ones around you that have made a difference in your life. It is even a greater time to think of the one who gave you life, by laying down his life for you. Isn’t it a wonderful time to fall in love all over with him again?

Whom Do You Trust?

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God (Psalm 20:7, ESV).

There are two circumstances in life when you know who your true families and friends are:

  1. When you are going through trials and tribulations
  2. When God starts blessing you

When you are going through trials and tribulations, you will know who will stay true to you, as you ride out your storm. These people will be with you in the storm, and they will be with you after the storm.

When God starts blessing you, some people will be happy for you; however, others who have bitter, hateful, and jealous spirits will certainly not be happy for you. Jeremiah 17:9 warns that the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? These people do not care what you were going through while you were facing your trials and tribulations. Instead, they are looking at how God has begun to bless you, after you have passed your test and rode through the storm with Jesus alone.

That is why you should put your trust in God, because he never fails. In doing so, it will save you a lot of disappointments and heart breaks. You do not know what is ahead of you in life. Therefore, trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Do You Have A Healthy Heart?

It’s not only the type of food that you eat or lack of exercise that can make your heart unhealthy.

Heart

Your heart can be unhealthy, because it abhors or houses hate in it. If you love God, then you should love others as well. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen (1 John 4:20).

I agree that people, including your own families, friends, or spouse can hurt and hate you in the worst way, but you do not have to return the compliment. You can show them the love of Christ, so that they know there is something different about you. Showing them love does not mean that you have to allow people to walk all over you, or that you have to be in a relationship of any sort with them, if that relationship is negative and toxic. However, you can still maintain peace and love when you see or talk to them.

Hate in one’s heart can cause a lot of different tension and stress.  Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses (Proverbs 10:12). On the other hand, love makes your heart more healthier. Anyone who does not love, does not know God, because God is love (1 John 4:8).

By and large, try to maintain a healthy heart, by eliminating any hate that may be in there; because hate causes too much hurt in one’s heart.

Once upon a time there was this girl who had four boyfriends.

She loved the 4th boyfriend the most and adorned him with rich robes and treated him to the finest of delicacies. She gave him nothing but the best.

She also loved the 3rd boyfriend very much and was always showing him off to neighboring kingdoms. However, she feared that one day he would leave her for another.

She also loved her 2nd boyfriend. He was her confidant and was always kind, considerate and patient with her. Whenever this girl faced a problem, she could confide in him, and he would help her get through the difficult times.

The girl’s 1st boyfriend was a very loyal partner and had made great contributions in maintaining her wealth and kingdom. However, she did not love the first boyfriend. Although he loved her deeply, she hardly took notice of him!

One day, the girl fell ill and she knew her time was short. She thought of her luxurious life and wondered, I now have four boyfriends with me, but when I die, I’ll be all alone.’

Thus, she asked the 4th boyfriend, ‘I loved you the most, endowed you with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I’m dying, will you follow me and keep me company?’

‘No way!’, replied the 4th boyfriend, and he walked away without another word.

His answer cut like a sharp knife right into her heart.

The sad girl then asked the 3rd boyfriend, ‘I loved you all my life. Now that I’m dying, will you follow me and keep me company?’

‘No!’, replied the 3rd boyfriend. ‘Life is too good! When you die, I’m going to marry someone else!’

Her heart sank and turned cold.

She then asked the 2nd boyfriend, ‘I have always turned to you for help and you’ve always been there for me. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?’

‘I’m sorry, I can’t help you out this time!’, replied the 2nd boyfriend. ‘At the very most, I can only walk with you to your grave.’

His answer struck her like a bolt of lightning, and the girl was devastated.

Then a voice called out: ‘I’ll go with you. I’ll follow you no matter where you go.’

The girl looked up, and there was her first boyfriend. He was very skinny as he suffered from malnutrition and neglect.

Greatly grieved, the girl said, ‘I should have taken much better care of you when I had the chance!’

In truth, you have 4 boyfriends in your lives.

Your 4th boyfriend is your body. No matter how much time and effort you lavish in making it look good, it will leave you when you die.

Your 3rd boyfriend is your possessions, status and wealth. When you die, it will all go to others.

Your 2nd boyfriend is your family and friends. No matter how much they have been there for you, the furthest they can stay by you is up to the grave.

And your 1st boyfriend is your Soul. Often neglected in pursuit of wealth, power and pleasures of the world.

However, your Soul is the only thing that will follow you where ever you go. Cultivate, strengthen and cherish it now, for it is the only part of you that will follow you to the throne of God and continue with you throughout Eternity.

Thought for the day: Remember, when the world pushes you to your knees, you’re in the perfect position to pray.

People tend to take each other for granted, and believe that they have all the time in this world. No matter what you do for some people, they will still come back asking for more. Instead of being appreciative, and asking what they can do for you, it’s always what you can do for them. There are always some needs that they have. However, they never stop to wonder if you might also have any needs. These people have the “me, myself and I” kind of attitude.

You will continue to pour out all you have got to others, while instead of trying to think of a way to show their appreciation, and be a blessing to you, they instead find a way to criticize and tear you down. If you have done one wrong, instead of using a way to look at all the good you have done, they use that one bad to tear you down. As the saying goes, “when I do something good, no one remembers, but when I do something bad, no one forgets.”

It’s time you try to bless someone who has continually being a blessing to you, instead of finding a way to tear that person down. Sometimes people do not take responsibilities for their own actions. Instead of asking for forgiveness and take responsibilities for their actions, they find a way to blame the other person.

Go out and find someone you can bless today; whether it is someone who has consistently being a blessing to you, or someone you don’t even know. Life is short, today we are here, and tomorrow we are gone. It does not make any sense you cry your eyes out at someone’s funeral, and give all the roses you can afford. Notwithstanding, you did not try to acknowledge, appreciate, and be a blessing to that person while he or she was here with you.

Kiss and hug your husband, wife, spouse, children, siblings, other relatives, and friends. Tell them you love them and appreciate them. Find a way to make their day special, especially if that person is always giving to you, instead of finding a way to be offended by every little thing, and tear that person down. Look at all the good that person has done in your life, and has allowed you to accomplish.

Don’t give me roses when I am gone.

Are You Tired?

Today marks another Labor Day holiday in the United States. In celebration of this holiday, there are many people who have toiled and labored at their jobs, in the churches, in their communities,  as well as for their families and friends.

Speaking of labor, moreover, sometimes you have become weary and overburdened with a lot of cares and troubles that accompany this life. However, whether you are in the United States or another part of the universe, the Master of the universe is able to give you rest.

Jesus encourages you, “Come unto me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28).

In light of this encouragement, you do not have to carry your burdens alone, if you are tired. Jesus is there for you, if you seek Him to help you lighten your load.
