Are you facing a chronic or terminal illness, a financial hardship, a marriage break-down, the death of a loved one, an addiction, or other personal or family turmoil? As you go through the storm right now, God promises you that He will be with you always to the end (Matthew 28:20). He will give you peace in the midst of the storm (Mark 4:39). Hold on to Jesus, and you can ride out your storm.

Ask God to grant you the courage, faith and strength to make it through the storm. You may not understand everything right now, as the Lord’s thoughts are not like your thoughts, and His ways are not like your ways (Isaiah 55:8). However, you are reminded that all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).

God is a spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth (John 4:24). Therefore, God desires sincerity in your relationship with him. He knows your heart, as there is nothing hidden from him (Luke 12:2).

God is holy and desires you also to be holy (1 Pet. 1:16). When you go before God, draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with your heart sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and your body washed with pure water (Hebrews 10:22).

God is looking for true worshipers, prayer warriors, and people who are hungry for the Words of God (Matthew 5:6) to build a sincere relationship with him.

The COVID-19 pandemic has taken its toll on the world. It can be difficult to see hope and be grateful. However, look for something to give thanks for every day, even if some days you have to look a little harder.

Answering God’s Call

When you are chosen by God to pursue His mission and purpose, you may become isolated because families and friends may turn their backs on you, as you face the storms of life in preparation for your Kingdom assignments.

The Scripture warns that, “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you (John 15:18-19 ESV).”

Do not look to please people, but look to please God, as you are a servant of Christ (Galatians 1:10). You do not have to answer to people, but you do have to give a personal account to God (Romans 14:12). Therefore, you cannot explain to God that others have prevented you from answering His call, as they were jealous of you or hated you because you were chosen.

Answering God’s call requires you to deny yourself and take up your cross daily and follow Him (Luke 9:23). As a result, you will endure trials and tribulations, as you follow God to fulfill the mandate of your calling. However, your obedience will bring blessings (Deuteronomy 28:1-2), and your reward will be sure (Proverbs 11:18).

Remember that you are sent out as sheep among wolves (Luke 10:3). The closer you are to the shepherd, the safer you are from the wolves. The Lord is your shepherd (Ps. 23:1). A good shepherd’s duty is to take care of the sheep (Ps. 23:1-2: Luke 2:8; John 10:2; 21:15). The shepherd loves his sheep so much, that he lays down his life for them (John 1:29; 10:11; 15:13; Heb. 13:20). The shepherd knows his sheep and they know him (John 10:3-4; 10:14-15; Ps. 100:3; 79:13). The shepherd keeps his sheep together, so that they are not scattered. He will search and find any sheep that is gone astray (Ezek. 34:11-16; Luke 15:4-7; John 10:16; Ps. 78:52).

Jesus is the head shepherd over the churches, which contain all his sheep. Jesus gave Peter a command three times to “feed my sheep,” in response to Peter’s admission of love for him (John 21:15-17). Peter obeyed Jesus’ command, and exhorted the elders in the churches of Asia to be a shepherd and feed the flock under their care (1 Pet. 5:2). This command was not only given to Peter, but to all the shepherds in the local churches, who would lead Jesus’ sheep.
