Are God’s Words Convicting You To Grow Spiritually?

It is better to get hurt by the truth than to be comforted by a lie. For the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child (Heb. 12:6 NLT).

God’s words are not only there to correct, encourage, guide and teach you. His words are also there to convict you, so that you do not fall into sins and destroy your lives and souls. When you are convicted, you are aware of your sins and are compelled to admit the truth and repent.

For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart (1 Sam. 16:7 ESV). A person can hide what is in their heart from others, but not from God. The condition of one’s heart will reveal itself in one’s actions. Therefore, if there are lust, hate, jealousy, bitterness, unforgiveness, greed, pride, strife, and other sins in one’s heart, it is time to sincerely repent before the Lord.

But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness (1 John 1:9 NLT). Although God’s grace is there so that you can be forgiven, his grace should not be taken for granted. Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace (Rom. 6:1 NLT)?

Jesus is coming back to judge this world (Matt. 25:31-46). Important to realize, he does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent (2 Pet. 3:9 NLT).

To those of you who have spoken into my life. To the ones who have helped and supported me, as I endured and overcame various trials and tribulations. To the ones who did not run away and leave me while I was riding out my storm, but instead have consistently encouraged and prayed for me. And to the ones who have helped me created cherished memories.

What Is God’s Will For Your Life?

Have you ever wondered what is God’s will for your life? If so, you may be left without answers, and still searching. Take a moment to pray the following prayer below:

Prayer of The Day

Father of love, hear my prayer. Help me to know your will and to do it with courage and faith. Accept my offering of myself, all my thoughts, words, deeds, and sufferings. May my life be spent giving You glory. Give me the strength to follow your call, so that Your Truth may live in my heart and bring peace to me and to those I meet, for I believe in your love.

Amen

As I read the “Prayer of The Day,” courtesy of the Jamaica Observer, I am drawn to add my own prayers as well, to ask the Lord to help us to fulfill our purposes here on this earth. This is so, because a lot of times we just focus on achieving here on earth for ourselves, such as traveling the world, buying or building a home, getting married, having children, advancing our careers, etc., but not finding out what our God-given purposes are, so that we can fulfill them before we depart this world.

This world is not the end of our journey; therefore, we should not only focus on achieving for ourselves while here, but also achieving for the Kingdom of God. Needless to say, at the end of our journey here on earth, we have another destination. Consequently, we should also prepare ourselves for that destination as well, so that we can hear, “Well done, you good and faithful servant (Matthew 25:21)!”

It can be difficult to find people of integrity, because so many people make mediocre compromises. At work, such people take every shortcut possible in order to finish the task as quickly as possible, even though they do a terrible job in the process. At school, mediocre people copy homework from friends and copy essays from the Internet just in order to avoid work while hoping to get a good grade, even though they’re cheating and don’t learn the material.

Unfortunately, many of the people who lack integrity are Christians. Yet, this is clearly not how God wants us to live. He desires that we be people of integrity.

Integrity means doing what is right when no one is looking, and it means going the extra mile, knowing that God sees everything and that what he sees in secret he will reward in the open (Matthew 6:4,6,18). Jesus told his disciples, “What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs” (Luke 12:3).

Whatever you do now, even if it is hidden from others, will be brought out into the open and made public. If you are wondering whether or not to do something, consider whether or not you’d be willing to do it in front of your boss, your teacher, your parents, or your pastor. If you have to hide what you’re doing to feel comfortable, then there’s a good chance you shouldn’t be doing it at all.
