Has Your Joy Been Stolen?

Stolen Joy

In John 10:10 you are warned that the thief comes to steal, kill, and to destroy; but Jesus came that you might have life more abundantly. In this scripture, Satan is being referred to as the thief who steals your joy, in order for you to live a life of misery and defeat.

If you have been through a tough year in 2019 and have been robbed of things that caused you to lose your joy, then 2020 is the year to reclaim what the devil has stolen from you.

Now is not the time to throw in the towel and play a pity party.  It’s time to refocus your faith and trust in the Lord, so that He can restore you with unspeakable joy. You are encouraged in Psalms 30:5 that weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. So dry your tears, arise and shine; for your light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you! (Isaiah 60:1)

Attitude

Reflecting on the above quote, I am drawn to the distinction between a person’s personality and their attitude. A person’s personality is who they are, and their attitude depends on who others are.

Now, what type of personality do you have? Do you have a pleasant personality, or do you have an unpleasant personality?

When people do not treat you the way you think they should, or say things that hurt your feelings, what type of attitude do you display?

I ask these questions, because a lot of people walk around with an unpleasant personality and display a grumpy attitude. A person’s personality and attitude can turn others away from them. They might not know it, but if they are always grumpy, unappreciative, mean, and demanding, they will not even entertain the Angels of God around them.

A great personality and attitude draws even the Spirit of God closer to you. The Scripture states, “For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace” (1 Corinthians 14:33).

While you are being confused and walking around with an unpleasant personality and a bad attitude, which turns the Spirit of God away from you, the devil is plotting to destroy you. Therefore, having a pleasant personality and displaying a great attitude will enable you to feel a sense of peace and the presence of God around you.

My prayer for you today: Lord, some people will always be who they are, so please help me to maintain a pleasant personality and a great attitude, despite who others are and how they might treat me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

It’s kind of hard when you have prayed, and is waiting on the Lord for an answer to your prayer. You might get a little weary and tired of waiting, and so you begin to lose strength. However, God’s time is not always your time. He sits high and looks low. He holds your future in His hands, and therefore knows what will happen in your life; and so, He works out all things for your good (Romans 8:28).

The Scripture advises you, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint ” (Isaiah 40:31).

One of my favorite songs, which I use as a ringtone on my cell phone is, “I don’t mind waiting on the Lord.” Whenever my cell phone rings, and I hear this song, it reminds me to wait with patience and a good attitude, so that God can do a complete and thorough work in my life. Here’s the song:

If you are waiting on the Lord, and have gotten weary, ask Him for renewal of strength, so that you can see your prayer(s) answered and God’s purpose manifest in your life. Patience and perseverance is essential in waiting, in order for you to accomplish your dreams and desires.

My prayer for you today: May the God of peace teach you how to wait with patience and keep a good attitude while waiting, in order to see His full purpose(s) accomplished in your life. In Jesus’ name. Amen!

What if you see a sign which reads, “I’m Homeless and Hungry; Please Help Me!” What would you do?

Homeless and Hungry

This week a story caught my attention of a man who posed as a homeless and hungry person, in order to give away money to people who stopped to help him. See video below:

As I reflected on this week’s story, I am reminded of 1 Corinthians 13:2, “And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.”

See the break-down of the criteria from the Scripture below:

  1. Gift of prophecy
  2. Understand all mysteries
  3. Knowledge
  4. Faith
  5. Charity

Needless to say, I am blown away by the last criterion on the list. If one has such a wonderful gift of prophecy, in order to foresee and foretell things that will happen in the future, and can also interpret and relay the mysteries of God, which some people are oblivious of, and knowledge, which spans beyond comprehension, as well as faith so strong that it moves mountains, but have not charity, you have nothing. Charity means the voluntary giving of help, typically in the form of money, to those in need.

I am almost sure that this man who pretended to be homeless and hungry must have met so many rejections on the street, as opposed to the few who stopped to help. However, Paul instructed us to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).

As we approach the holiday seasons, there are many people who are less fortunate and maybe in dire needs. Seek your abundant blessings through giving, by helping someone.

Pay it forward!

God bless you all!

7 x 2 = 14, which means double portion of spiritual perfection. In the Gospel of Matthew 1:1-17, the genealogy of Jesus is divided into three sets of 14 generations.

In looking ahead towards the year 2014, it means you will encounter double portion of spiritual blessings. This is a divine year, especially for those of you who have encountered a spiritual warfare last year.

God has equipped you this year to receive even more than you have bargain for. Does this means your dreams and aspirations will be gained easily? NO! The enemy is at work to ensure that your spiritual and divine blessings are thwarted. Having this knowledge, you have to be vigilant in your warfare, in order to seize, that which the Lord lays before you.

In so doing, you have to be faithful in your spiritual journey with God. Through it all, He will help you to gain the double portion of spiritual perfection and blessings that He has in store for you in 2014. What are you waiting for? Come on! Seize the moment, it begins right now!

Seize the moment

Last night in a vision, I encountered a young girl, who was singing some songs that were not reaching her audience. I then directed her to sing the following song, which resonated well with her audience. I will include the first few lines along with the video of the song itself.

God sent His son, they called Him Jesus
He came to love, heal and forgive
He lived and died to buy my pardon
An empty grave is there to prove my savior lives

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow
Because He lives, all fear is gone
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living, just because He lives

As I re-directed this young girl in my vision to switch to this song, I woke up realizing what this song means. This is a song that depicts how Jesus came into this world, because of the love that God has for us. His birth was for a purpose – a purpose to save mankind from sins and to give us hope and peace. Hence, I definitely believe God gave me a word in season, to share with others, that no matter the circumstances of life and what you have been through; because He lives, you can face tomorrow.

If you are struggling to find your way to Jesus, remember He came to love, heal and forgive. Therefore, as we approach the new year, you have a choice – a choice to renew or direct your life into His hands. Forget the failures of 2013, and trust God to lead you into 2014. He is more than a conqueror.

I just want to remind you that you have been fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalms 139:14). With that being said, you know that you are not just here by chance. God created you with a purpose in mind, so you have to press to pursue your purpose.

The question you need to ask yourself as you are preparing to say goodbye to 2013, is: How many of my God-given purpose(s) have I accomplished in 2013? If you have faltered along the way, don’t worry; you are alive, and that means you still have hopes and a purpose(s) to accomplish.

So be proactive, and press to pursue your purpose(s) in 2014!

God bless you!

Peace on Earth!

peace_on_earth

“Glory to God in the highest; peace on earth; goodwill toward men” (Luke 2:14).  I have been rehearsing this scriptural line with my three-year old daughter. She’s playing the role of an angel in a Christmas pageant at her preschool. As we practice the line together, and I hear her say it, I am blown away by the greatest peace to have ever grace this earth – the birth of Jesus. His birth has brought peace to all men on the face of this earth.

As we approach this Christmas season, you must remember that no matter what tribulations may come your way, the peace of God which passes all understanding, shall guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

May the Grace and Peace of God be with you all!

Hear What God Says!

hear-from-god

If I answer your prayer at once, it’s because I am testing your faith. If I did not answer your prayer at once, it’s because I am testing your patience. If I did not answer your prayer at all, it’s because I have a better plan for you.

Remember, God’s promises are yes and Amen! He is God, not man; which explains why He can never fail.  Hold on, don’t be discouraged. Your miracle is knocking at the door of your heart.

If something does not happen the way you pray for it to happen and the time you want it to happen, remember your way is not God’s way.  You can’t see the future, but He can.

Something might look glittering to you, and you want it now, but the Lord knows deep down, that it’s not the best thing for you; therefore He refuses to let you have it.  You, on the other hand, just look at now, and not later.  Hence, this is why people sometimes get into trouble when they run ahead of God, and not wait. When the trouble gets unbearable, they have to run back to Him for help.

You cannot handle your problems all by yourself. You’ve got to let go and let God! Everything that glitters is not gold!  Let Him determine when it is gold.  If He knows it’s gold and it’s good for you, He won’t withhold it from you.

God doesn’t withhold anything good from His people.  We are reminded in Psalms 34:17,  “The righteous cry, and the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.” Be among the righteous today, and not among the sinners.  You need God’s attention.  No matter what the situation is, He is able to deliver.

A little more faith is what you need to see all your needs met.  Claim your blessings today!  Do not let the devil rob it!  He is here to steal and destroy. Therefore, the time you decided to get discouraged and quit, it’s the time the blessing was about to be poured down!

Satan’s job is to frustrate and allow you to lose faith and patience, in order for you to give up and throw in the towel. By doing so, you will lose all that’s in store for you.  If the Lord give you something, hold on to it, and do not let the enemy rob it from you.  If the Lord has given you a blessing and the devil took it away, reclaim it again!  There are more in store!

You’ve got to press!  There is blessing in pressing!  You can’t get anything too easy.  Therefore, when you think of giving up, no matter how rough and chance-less the situation appears, remember that there is nothing impossible with God.  You just need to exercise faith and patience.

Don’t forget, the prayer answering God is saying that He has met all your needs!

Often times when a marriage fails, you will hear the same familiar story, ‘we fell out of love with each other, or we just grew apart from each other.’  However, if those couples who are making these statements were building and maintaining intimacy and love in their marriage, then there would be no time to fall out of love, or grow apart from each other.

I will now share a story with you, which depicts how important it is to build and maintain intimacy and love in your relationship.

To those who are married, not married… and soon to be married
When I got home that night, as my wife served dinner, I held her hand and said, “I’ve got something to tell you.” She sat down and ate quietly. Again, I observed the hurt in her eyes.

Suddenly I didn’t know how to open my mouth. However, I had to let her know what I was thinking. “I want a divorce.” I said calmly.

She didn’t seem to be annoyed by my words, instead she asked me softly, “Why?”

I avoided her question, and this made her angry. She threw away the chopsticks and shouted at me, “You are not a man!” That night, we didn’t talk to each other. She was weeping, and I knew she wanted to find out what had happened to our marriage. Despite this fact, I could hardly give her a satisfactory answer; she had lost my heart to Dew. I didn’t love her anymore; I just pitied her!

With a deep sense of guilt, I drafted a divorce agreement, which stated that she could own our house, our car, and 30% stake of my company.

She glanced at it and then tore it into pieces. The woman who had spent ten years of her life with me had now become a stranger. I felt sorry for her wasted time, resources and energy, but I could not take back what I had said, because I loved Dew so dearly. Finally she cried loudly in front of me, which was what I had expected to see. To me, her cry was actually a kind of release. The idea of divorce which had obsessed me for several weeks seemed to be firmer and clearer now.

The next day I came back home very late and found her writing something at the table. I didn’t have supper, but went straight to sleep. I fell asleep very fast, because I was tired after an adventurous day with Dew.

When I woke up, she was still there at the table writing. I just did not care, so I turned over and was asleep again.

In the morning she presented her divorce conditions: she didn’t want anything from me, but needed a month’s notice before the divorce.

She requested that in that one month, we should both struggle to live as normal a life as possible. Her reasons were simple: our son had his exams in a month’s time and she didn’t want to disrupt him with our broken marriage.

This was agreeable to me. In addition, she had something more for me to do. She asked me to recall how I had carried her into our bridal room on our wedding day.

She requested that every day for the month’s duration I carry her out of our bedroom to the front door every morning. This unusual request had me thinking that she was going crazy. Needless to say, just to make our last days together more bearable, I accepted her odd request.

I told Dew about my wife’s divorce conditions, but she laughed loudly and thought it was absurd. “No matter what tricks she applies, she has to face the divorce,” she said scornfully.

My wife and I hadn’t had any body contact since my divorce intention was explicitly expressed. So when I carried her out on the first day, we both appeared clumsy. Our son clapped behind us, “Daddy is holding mummy in his arms,” He said.  His words brought me a sense of pain. From the bedroom to the sitting room, then to the door. I walked over ten meters with her in my arms. She closed her eyes and said softly, “Don’t tell our son about the divorce.” I nodded, feeling somewhat upset. I put her down outside the door. She went to wait for the bus to go to work. I drove alone to the office.

On the second day, both of us acted much more easier. She leaned on my chest, and I could smell the fragrance of her blouse. I realized that I hadn’t looked at this woman carefully for a long time. I realized that she was not young any more either. There were fine wrinkles on her face and her hair was graying! Our marriage had taken its toll on her. For a minute I wondered what I had done to her.

On the fourth day, when I lifted her up, I felt a sense of intimacy returning. This was the woman who had given ten years of her life to me.

On the fifth and sixth day, I realized that our sense of intimacy was growing again. I didn’t tell Dew about this. It became easier to carry her as the month slipped by. Perhaps the everyday workout made me more stronger.

She was choosing what to wear one morning, so she tried on quite a few dresses, but could not find a suitable one. She then sighed, “All my dresses have grown bigger.” I suddenly realized that she had grown so thin, and that was the reason why I could carry her so easily.

Suddenly it hit me… she had buried so much pain and bitterness in her heart. Subconsciously I reached out and touched her head.

Our son came in at that moment and said, “Dad, it’s time to carry mum out.” Seeing his father carrying his mother out had become an essential part of his life. My wife gestured to our son to come closer and hugged him tightly. I turned my face away because I was afraid I might change my mind at this last-minute. I then held her in my arms, walking from the bedroom, through the sitting room, to the hallway. Her hand surrounded my neck softly and naturally. I held her body tightly; it was just like our wedding day.

But her much lighter weight made me sad. On the last day, when I held her in my arms, I could hardly move a step. Our son had gone to school. I held her tightly and said, “I hadn’t noticed that our life lacked intimacy.”

I drove to the office… jumped out of the car swiftly, without locking the door. I was afraid any delay would make me change my mind… I walked upstairs. Dew opened the door and I said to her, “Sorry Dew, I do not want the divorce anymore.”

She looked at me astonished, and then touched my forehead, “Do you have a fever?” She asked. I moved her hand off my head, “Sorry Dew, I won’t divorce,” I said.
“My marriage life was boring, probably because she and I didn’t value the details of our lives, not because we didn’t love each other anymore.  Now I realize that since I carried her into my home on our wedding day, I am supposed to hold her until death do us apart. ”

Dew seemed to suddenly wake up. She gave me a loud slap and then slammed the door and burst into tears. I walked downstairs and drove away.

On my way home, I stopped at the floral shop, where I ordered a bouquet of flowers for my wife. The sales girl asked me what to write on the card, and I smiled and wrote, “I’ll carry you out every morning until death do us part.”

That evening when I arrived home, flowers in hand and a smile on my face, I ran upstairs, only to find my wife in the bed – dead.

The small details of your lives are what really matter in a relationship. It is not the mansion, the car, or a bunch of money in the bank. These things create an environment conducive for happiness, but cannot give happiness in themselves. So find time to be your spouse’s friend and do those little things for each other that build and maintain intimacy and love.

Do have a real happy marriage!
