“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13)

Where Can I Find Peace?

peace88

Sometimes people think that they will be at peace when they are debt-free, or when they get their dream job, or when they meet the perfect partner, or when they obtain their dream home, or when they have children, or when their business becomes more successful, or when they obtain a degree, or when they are cured of an incurable disease, or when they lose weight, or when they get this, or when they get that.

However, the time to be at peace is not when you get all the things you have desired from this life.  People tend to pin their peace on external things, but there’s no guarantee that you will get to achieve all that you have set out to achieve in your life-time. Therefore, to find inner peace, you have to search deep within, as peace is intrinsically designed.

What happen when you lose that house, or your business falls into a recession, or you run into debt, or you get a divorce? Achieving those external factors will only bring temporary peace. You have to build your peace around the “Prince of Peace.”

In John 14:27, Jesus reminded you that, “My peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Notice here, that Jesus stated that the peace He left with you, is not like the peace that the world gives you. He already knew that the peace of this world is temporary, and won’t last. His peace is everlasting, and when all those material and external things are shattered along with your dreams, you can still find that peace deep within, that Jesus provided. May His perfect peace continues to guide your path today.

Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs. Matthew 27:55

motherAndChild-isabeloMquiles-1992

The New Testament records the fact that many women were among the larger body of disciples that followed and served Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, we only know the names and stories of a few. They were more loyal to Jesus at the time of his crucifixion than his male disciples.

Despite the patriarchal society of that day, four women—two of them Gentile foreigners—were named in the genealogy of Jesus in Matthew’s Gospel chapter one. It is significant that Jesus included women in his teaching putting them on equality with men. The same ethical and moral standards were demanded from both genders and the same way of salvation was offered for both.

Throughout the Bible, women filled significant roles—from leadership like Deborah to unique motherhood like Mary.

Excerpt from Standing Strong Through The Storm by Paul Estabrooks

As I reflect on these words, women have been very significant from biblical times in both ministry and the role of motherhood. Mary, the mother of Jesus had endured such horrific experience carry the Christ-child. Despite her horrendous tribulations, as well as the terrible experience she faced when her son was crucified, she displayed phenomenal strength and courage, that any caring mother would display for her child.

Today, I hail all the mothers in the world, including our ministry moms, and wish each and everyone of these phenomenal woman a my-diary-mothers1

As I reflect on these five simple, but very important and powerful words, “No More Hurting People – Peace,” I sense that these words have been very prophetic, and God is saying to the world, enough is enough. These prophetic words came from none other than  a beautiful boy by the name of Martin Richards, one of the victims, who, unfortunately did not survive the Boston Marathon Bombings on April 15, 2013.

MARTIN-RICHARD

Nonetheless, his message is a powerful reminder to the world, that it is not okay to go around causing terrors, mayhem, and hurt. It’s a call for peace from a young eight year old boy. This was no coincidence that Martin wrote those five simple, but powerful words some time before his death. Martin had been on this earth for a purpose, to carry a message of peace and love. He skillfully crafted two signs of love on either side of his poster sign, which also serves as a powerful reminder, that a little child shall lead us. (Isaiah 11:6) As his parents’ message stated, “He’s now at peace.”

With all the terrors, mayhem, and hurt that continue to plague our world, let us be reminded of the peace that Jesus has already left with us, so that we should not be troubled, or become afraid. In John 14:27, the Scripture states, “My peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world gives you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Let us all continue to pray for all those who have been victims of the Boston Marathon Bombings, but most importantly, let us all continue to pray for peace.

To You; Love God

To: You
Today is Good Friday.
Think back over the events of this week as if they were a computer text document.
Has this been a really tough week?  Have there been a lot of challenges and problems that you are glad you have simply survived?
Then, in your mind, press the “delete” key and let this week go.  It’s over.  Cease to focus upon it. Empty your trash file and leave behind the events of this week.
If, however, there have been some good experiences– experiences that brought you joy and satisfaction; or, if you overcame challenges which have now given you resources to live even more fully, imagine highlighting, cutting and pasting these events into a new document titled “Next Week.”  Set your intention now to enjoy the upcoming week to the fullest.
Lastly, if this week has been extraordinary, then consider saving it as a template for your future.  Create a file for this wonderful week and let it serve as a model for what is to come.
Delete, cut and paste, or make a template.
You choose.
Love,
God

I will share a story with you that explains the moral of money and richness.

????????????????????????????????????????

One day a rich Dad took his son on a trip to the Village. He wanted to show him how poor someone can be. They spent time on the farm of a poor family. Dad asked, “Did you see how poor they are? What did you learn?” Son said, “We have one dog, they have four, we have one pool, they have rivers, we have lanterns at night, they have stars, we buy food, they grow theirs, we have walls to protect us, they have friends, we have encyclopedias, they have Bibles.” After heading home, the son said, “Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are.”

MORAL LESSON:

It’s not about money that make us rich,

It’s about simplicity of having God in our lives.

So next time you think of considering how poor you are, consider how rich you are in Christ. “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19) KJV

Preparation for Easter

People around the world will celebrate Jesus’ resurrection on Sunday, March 31. In the weeks leading up to Easter, many individuals put intentional practices in place to focus on the nature and meaning of Christ’s sacrifice. This year Lent begins today, Wednesday, February 13.

Forty (40) days of Lent takes you through all four Gospel accounts (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) of Jesus’ last week of earthly Ministry. Bring the Bible to life, as you study Jesus’ life and His sacrifice for you. It will help you to understand the context of His time on earth.

It’s about midway through the Islamic season of Ramadan, an annual period of fasting and reflection for Muslims. Around the world, millions of Muslims are fasting, praying, reading the Qur’an, and striving for purity in thought and deed. The post below was published last year during Ramadan, and contains some useful ideas for Christians to consider during Ramadan—so we’re re-posting it today.

As Ramadan is a specifically Muslim tradition, Christians do not observe it. (The most superficially similar Christian observance is the season of Lent, with its six-week emphasis on sacrifice and prayer; but whereas Lent is an optional practice not mandated by Scripture, Ramadan is a required observance for most Muslims.)

While Christians don’t observe Ramadan, it’s nevertheless helpful to be aware of it. Here are a few things you can do during Ramadan to grow closer to God and show Christ-like grace to our Muslim neighbors:

1. Read up on fasting. While fasting is not a religious obligation for Christians, the Bible includes many examples of people choosing to fast for specific reasons—Jesus himself fasted for 40 days and nights during his wilderness temptation. Bible Gateway’s topical index lists instances of fasting in the Bible, with links to the relevant Scripture passages.

2. Pray for Muslims. Muslims around the world are spending this month in prayer. Why not take the opportunity to pray for them? You can pray that the gospel of Jesus Christ will take root in the Muslim world. And given the ongoing turmoil in the Middle East, there are plenty of specific prayer needs for Muslims living there. There are Christian ministries that can help you do this: for example, 30 Days of Prayer maintains an ongoing Ramadan prayer guide that highlights prayer needs in the Muslim world.

3. Learn more about Islam. How well do you understand what Muslims actually believe? Many misconceptions about Islam have circulated since September 2001. It’s hard to meaningfully relate to somebody—let alone share the Gospel with them—if you don’t understand what motivates them. The internet can be helpful in explaining the basics of Islam (and apologist Lee Strobel thoroughly examined some of the differences between Islam and Christianity in an essay last year), but your best bet might be to ask your pastor to recommend some good reading material on Islam. Or to ask a Muslim directly, which would require you to…

4. Meet the Muslims in your community. Do you know where the nearest mosque in your town is located? Have you ever interacted with members of the local Muslim community? Are you a “good neighbor” to them? How might your own church demonstrate Christ-like love to the Muslims in your community?

Ramadan is an excellent opportunity both to learn more about Islam and to show, through our prayers, words, and actions, that we love our Muslim neighbors and want them to know the peace of Jesus Christ.
